Members, I have a query, I have 4 computers that is required to access to seperate networks. Can I accomplish this by utilizing 2 NIC's?

yes

Ed,

Can you tell me how to complete this task?

ooh rah.

It was at least 6 years ago and my memory is dim but if I recall correctly it was adding the part and adding the prototcols and making sure that the protocols were bound to the right hardware. Too many machines ago to have kept the details fresh.

A little info might help. What type of network? 100Base-T? Both? What protocol(S)? What is your network layout? Do you have 400000 machines but only 4 should be able to access both networks? If not, why not combine them? What OS are you using? Generally speaking, you would have to add the second network card the the machine, bind it to your protocol, and set up routing. With TCP/IP, you can set this up by setting up a TCP/IP address and subnet mask. You will need to decide how you want to handle routing. If you put a default gateway in the config for both cards, your performance will tank. Again, depending on your network numbering scheme, you may be able to leave the mask open on one NIC or the other. Be careful when you set this up that your masks DO NOT overlap.

dk87,

Thanks for the responses, the network concise of 90 wkstns
but only 4 will have to connect to a hybrid network, tcp/ip is the protocol and XP is the OS.

Then it should be really easy. Install the second NIC's, then set up TCP/IP. Just make sure your IP Parameters are correct. Keep an eye on them so they don't act as gateways!
