How do I configure the server to not have any problems browsing the network?

If u don't using DHCP server then make sure that u r choosing a correct not confilecting IP address within the same subnet, also put the correct DNS IP & DNS suffix (domain name) to make sure your DNS server is ok goto start->run and type nslookup the result should be the full DNS server name and its IP address.
for more inf. please provide me full details about your server(ex. OS, is it a member srv or domain controller,... etc)

how do you setup/configure dual nics one for
the public network and one for private(like 192.168.x.x)
for running a centralized backup on a gig backbone.

No gateway address on the private NIC.

is there a 'binding order' also ??
