i just added a second faste NIC to my red hat 9 server. is there a way to "team" the two NIC's together to make them appear as a single IP, and take advantage of the full bandwidth?

If so, how?

Thnx

What you want to do is called bonding in Linux. I have never done it myself, but I believe you would have to compile your own kernel for it.

does anyone know how to do this in red hat 9??

If you are using Intel nic, you need Intel Bonding Driver called IANS. If you are using 3Com's Broadcom nic then you need to use their BASP driver. Both are the bonding drivers for their respective nics. For other nics, I do not know what you need. IANS and BASP are both free downloads from Intel and 3Com. Both are fairly simple to setup.

FYI, both NICS should be on the same subnet.
