Would there be a problem adding a second nic to a machine (Window 2000 pro) and having both nics set for dhcp and both connected to the same gateway/router(i.e. dhcp server)?

When I do this I don't get any address on either one (well I get the 169.xxx). However if I put a fixed address on either one the other one will negotiate a dhcp address just fine.

Maybe I'm just missing something basic but it seems this should work...

Thanks for any suggestions!

Thanks for the replies...

I looked over the Microsoft docs, but I'm not so sure this applies to my configuration. Or am I not understanding it correctly.

My config as I mentioned in the original post is just on a local 192.168 subnet, with the addresses handed out from a Linksys gateway/router.
