Hello,

I have a Novell Netware Server with dual NIC Card.
I am using pure TCP/IP protocol in my Network.
In my novell server the
ip address of first NIC is 192.162.1.x with subnet 255.255.255.0
ip address of second NIC is 90.0.0.x with subnet
255.0.0.0

I have Win2K Machine of dual NIC with the ip address of
192.162.1.x and 90.0.0.x.

I want to knoe
How can I connect to the Novell Netware Server by only the TCP/IP protocol with the IP address of 90.0.0.x not the the ip address of 192.162.1.x address.

I already installed the Novell Client by IP only installation in my WIN2K machine.

I gues my first question would be is why do you want to use a server as a router? Or is the configuration such so that access is faster or more efficient?

Second, you should be able to bind the second IP to the second NIC with no prblems since it is in its own subnet. You may want to look up on support.novell.com for Routing with Netware 5.x. Essentially all servers, whether they be MS or Novell or Unix will act as a router when multiple nics are installed. You may also need to research MPR (Multi Protocol Router) which is used when 2 nics are installed and configured in a Novell server.

You could try, setting tcpip as end node so no routing goes through the server.

Then in Monitor, server parameters, NCP, in NCP Excluse address insert 90.0.0.x.

I'm presuming Netware 5.1. Although this option is there for Netware 5.0 with the latest service pack.

When you exclude that address that should stop the address being advertised to all Novell servers/clients so nobody should connect to it.

I have tried something simialr myself and it fixed my problem but have not tested your scenario. Lee Smith
