help please...

had Dual Display on my PC using an AGP Nvida GForce2 MX400 and and PCI S3 Trio. this all worked fine... and then i tried to upgrade my PC and put a new HDD in... there was a little trouble with the upgrade of RAM but i did up it by 256MB...

after this with 1 monitor attached to the PCI card it booted past POST screen but as soon as the HDD did anything the screen went black... if i take out the AGP card then it boots up into windows fine, with just the AGP card in it gets into Windows fine... i have tried all different PCI and AGP cards (all which i know work individually) when i booted up with a dual channel AGP card it went into windows but once i had enabled the second channel and rebooted it didnt work...

WHY WONT MY PC'S HDD WORK WITH DUAL DISPLAY??

the only thing thats different is the HDD and i cant put that back...
all advice is welcome

The only thing I can think of is power. If you've added extra RAM that will draw a little more power than before and if your new drive is more power-hungry as well then you could be putting too much strain on your power supply. It doesn't sound as if you've increased your total power draw by much but it could have been the straw that broke the camel's back.

good call, i been asking everyone i know (and i hang in technical circles) no one thought of that... but i have tried just bare bones so took all but the smalles piece of RAM out. i will see if i cna get my hands on a PWR supplie and give it a try but mine is a good one.

i can only think it some kind of HDD compatableity with dual monitors (not the graphics cards, just dual monitors...
anyone else agree with this??
