Good day ..

New to Linux / Unix / Mandrake 7.2.

After creating a partition, I installed Mandrake 7.2. Working in it was fine, but once I rebooted my machine, ME comes up with prompt for Mandrake 7.2.

Possibly a silly question, but how can I set a prompt to select which O/S I would like to load?

Thanks

Hi,

Presumably you (or the Mandrake Installer) wrote the lilo boot loader into the master boot record. If its the text-only lilo you probably just need to append 'dos' or suchlike to the boot prompt. For example when is says 'boot:' type dos so it looks like :

boot: dos

then press enter.

To find out the exact names of the images / systems lilo is configured to boot hit the 'tab' key when the boot: prompt is active.

I'm not sure on Mandrake 7.2, but a lot of the current distros have a graphical boot screen with all the choices already listed so its a lot easier.

Hope this helps
