i have a ti4400. i have a regular monitor running from the vga port, and a widescreen telivision running from the rgb port. i don't seem to be able to persuade my computer that my telly is widescreen. i'm not bothered whether the display is cloned, or if i use an extended desktop, but i want to get the display on my telly right. so far i have found this:

cloned
- i can select widescreen resolutions (like 1280x760). this squashes the image slightly on my monitor - as i would expect. but on the telly, the computer has spread the desktop over the edges of the screen - so that it would look fine on a normal telly, but is stretched on my widescreen. if it didn't hang over the edges of the screen, it would look fine.

extended desktop
- i am not given any widescreen resolutions to choose from on my rgb output.

i want a widescreen resolution on my widescreen telly, and i don't want to computer to make it hang over the edges. how can i do this?

I have a 4600 and I don't think it will support more than 640x480 on the TV out port.
Then next gen FX cards do support DVi out to widescreen res's but I have had a ton of trouble getting it to display properly on my big screen.

You are entering into a very frustrating situation.
