Hi,
One of our user was using J179 phone with H.323 firmware. For some reason he requested to install a softphone also on his laptop. We installed Avaya IXWorkplace softphone on his Laptop and enable the H.323/SIP option both in SMGR--User Tab. It is CM /SM 8.1.
User can login on both hard and softphone but the problem is that the incoming call is ringing on H.323 Hard phone, softphone shows no incoming call. However dialtone and outcall is OK on softphone, both phone have same extension number. The only difference is that IXWorkplace is installed with SIP option and the hardphone is on H.323. Can somebody help why both phones not ringing on the same time when incoming call hit the extension no??
 
Does the SIP phone ring if the h323 is UNREGISTERED?


What if the h323 phone is a 9600 instead?

And why don't you just make it a J179 SIP so you don't have the feature limitations of SIP/h323 dual reg?
 
You obviously do not have something configured correctly. There are a number of feature limitations when using the mixed H.323/SIP environment. Using SIP on both the J100 and IX Workplace is much better.
 
When H.323 phone unregistered then SIP Soft phone rings OK. It is when both phone are registered we get the no ring issue on SIP soft phone. H.323 firmware usage is due to some recording requirements at the site. I will read the mention thread, mean time can somebody had this issue??? or any specific tip on that??
 
I read the thread and could not found a helpful tip to resolve the issue. One more thing i by mistakenly mention that SIP phone rang if H.323 phone unregistered, actually it is not ringing even after H.323 set logoff. However if i remove H.323 extension then the SIP softphone work ok.
