Can anyone point me in the right direction how to format or remove a second boot operating system that i have got installed. I know that I can amend the boot.ini file to remove it from the start up option, but I also want to remove all the data and applications as well.

Xavier is correct, the best way to remove all remnants of an old OS, is via FDisk. It will go out and clean the FAT table of the old OS entries, whereas the 2000/XP formatting programs no longer will.

If the boot loader is in the Master Boot Record, you can remove it by typing:

fdisk /mbr

from a Windows Command Promopt.

I hope this helps!

Kind of depends on where the 2nd operating system resides, real drive or logical drive or co-resident on the boot drive.
