I have a Dual Boot PC with Win 98 on C:/ and W2K on another Partitioned drive. This arrangement arose because W2K was installed after Win 98 was already installed.

Without uninstalling W2K and re-installing it , is it possible to change W2K so that it is on the C:/ and then have Win 98 removed altogether ?

Should be able to ghost it after the 98 is removed. But there will be operational problems since there is boot info spread between both drives that won't be handled correctly.

Are we talking 2 drives here or 2 partitions on one drive?

As Ed says, you've got a boot info problem - 2k is booting from the boot sector in the C: drive. If you remove 98 completely, you'll need to rebuild a 2k boot sector to get it to boot. Also, moving it to C: is not easy - an IMO not worth the effort of trying.

What I'm trying to say is in your position, I'd backup, wipe everything and clean install a fresh copy of 2k. you'll have far less trouble in the long run - and it will probably not take any longer than faffing about with existing installation.

But if you do want help 'faffing about', do post back, and we'll advise further.

Thanks to both wolluf and edfair for the advice . To answer wolluf's intial question - its 2 partitons on a single drive - but you've actually answered it completely anyway.

I think I'll follow your advice and go the "backup and re-install route " thus avoiding the "faffing about" - (sounds as if you're from the UK wolluff - that's not a transatlantic phrase <vbg!>)

I am indeed from the UK - good luck with your rebuild!
