I am trying to configure my New Vista Ultimate to work as dual boot with XP Pro.

When I try to get to the XP Partition I continously get a message saying that it cannot find ntldr. I found that ntldr was installed on mt C drive (Vista) as well as my boot ini. To attempt to overcome this issue I COPIED these files with ntdetect.com to my D drive where XP is located. The boot still says that it cannot find ntldr.

any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

This is a handy program to use when having Boot problems in Vista dual booting with XP. It can be run from Vista or XP and may correct the booting problem.

Thanks for the help. I had been using EasyBCD. However vistabootpro made it easy. The drive letter was listed wrong.

This is what I wrote in a previous post

I use this method because each OS is completely separate and can be booted without depending on another harddrive's bootsector. Meaning I can unplug all the drives and just run the xp harddrive or the vista harddrive. and I don't have to worry about drive letter assignments. all my OS's boot as C:\ drive. I don't even have to change the xp boot.ini or the vista bootedit....LOL....It's all good

It looks more difficult to setup then it really is to setup

I know because I just upgraded my computer and reset up 6 harddrives on the beast with 3 separate OS's (XP,Vista,Ubunta) and each boot with no issues at all...other than the normal OS issues you would have anyways

Well that is my rant....lol....time to bring the kids to school
