Hi all,

I bought a new PC with SATA on it with windows XP HOME on it. I previously had a IDE drive with windows XP PROFESSIONAL. I connected the IDE drive as secondary master and SAta AS PRIMARY MASTER. i changed the boot.ini to dual boot but it didnt work. .... the moment I choose win xp profesional it reboots, only the last time it said something with hal.dll. Forgive my noob language.

Now I desperately wanted the win xp professional to run even if win xp HOME does not. So I coonected only the IDE drive, not the SATA.

The system boots and then reboots. No messages.

Any help or comments PLEASE.

Thanks

Windows is complaining that the hardware has changed. It's Hardware abstraction Layer (HAL) is incorrect.

You may be able to boot that disk in safe mode. You may be able to perform a system repair.
