NEC phones were always backward compatible. Can I configure the DTZ - DT400 series phone with the NEC IPS2000?

I found a document that shows you how to change the keypad on a DT3XX/7XX to a retro keypad, so I think it will work.

The issue is not that the key pad does not match. That was for the DTL phones. The ITZ phones don't event come up. They say "Sys Inf. Error." The particular phone I am testing is a DT400 DTZ-12- model DZV

2000IPS is used only with ITR family of ip-phones. Those use something like "protims over ip" protocol, while successors use n-sip protocol (ITZ family). So IPS doesn`t know anything about newer phones, so can`t control them.

FYI: The ITR series work with the SV9300. My question was corrected to discuss the digital version DT400 (DTZ model). The DT300 (DTL model) works with the IPS2000. I am sure as does the DTZ/DT400. I just figure there needs to be some adjustment.

OK. But the programmable buttons layout of new phones may (will?) be different.

It is not a matter of the buttons. The ITZ phones doesn't event come up. The screen displays "Sys Inf. Error."
