Hope someone can help.
I have a process which generates a 104Meg ouptut file. I need to zip it up before moving it to a share drive.
As I am using DTS to generate the file I thought it would be appropriate for DTS to compress the output - after all it can email it..

Does anyone have any Ideas? I am new to DTS.

Thanks in anticipation.

If a zip program is available on the server, create an execute process task that will run the program and zip the file. If you run the DTS Package from a job, you can create a job step the performs a CmdExec step to execute the zip program. Terry L. Broadbent - DBA

Thanks for that tlbroudbent.
My DBA came up with the same solution. I was wondering if it was possible to build the entire solution in DTS but alas, is seems not.

Is isn't is interesting that there are so many tools that do ALMOST what you need but often not enough?

Thanks for your reply. If nothing it validated my resource..
