Hi, Can anyone please tell me how to fix this error message? I couldn't scan the packages anymore, also I couldn't start the job under SQL.

Thanks a lot,
-Steve

Sounds like you don't have access to a file/folder that you are trying to write to.

Edit the DTS package, right click properties. There should be a logging section on one of the tabs. Enable the logging and run the package again.

Then right click on the package and select view log or logs or something like that. That should give you better info about the failure.

Hi Denny,

This is the error that I got form the log:

Step Error Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Step Error Description:[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
Step Error code: 80004005
Step Error Help File:
Step Error Help Context ID:0

Please help.

Many thanks,

Looks like something is blocking access to the SQL Server that you are trying to connect to. Firewall or something? Maybe the Windows Firewall got turned on?

I don't have firewall on windows 2000 server, andy thought?

is there a way to look for the previous job detail, my current job won't run at all, I need to look for the steps or the path of the file

Manny thanks,

You'll only have log details for after you turned on the logging.
