DTS package to import from Excel

I to write a DTS package to import some data from an excel spreadsheet and put that data into a table???

What is the question? You can do what you say, import excel data into a table using DTS.

Check Books On Line

Basically:
Set up a datasource for the SqlServer and for the Excel file
Create a DataTransformation Task (From excel to sql)
Set any properties.. etc.
Run the package.

Or go into Enterprise Manager, right click the DB in question, navigate to All Tasks -> Import Data.

At that point, just follow the prompts. If you can't figure it out, look up DTS Import/Export Wizard in Books Online.
