Hello

I am using SQL 2000 and have a problem with creting DTS packages

Does anybody know why:

If I create a DTS package to e-mail notification of success or other wise and run it it works fine

If I create a DTS package which executes the package ad then further packages dependant upon success it doesn't e-mail

i.e. I have 3 packages a, b and c each created independantly of the others

I create a single package (abc) which runs:

a -> b -> c if a fails it e-mails and stops, if b fails it e-mails and stops

I now create a package (runall) which executes abc then other packages dependant upon the sucess of abc

abc fails but it doesn't e-mail

Hope this makes sense

Any thoughts ?

Thanks

Damian.

When you say you are running the package are you running it from a job or how?

Manually

i.e. open the DTS package and execute it

My intent it to automate the execution of this
I have a piece of VB script which runs the package

A job has been set up in NT Scheduler to run this package under certain circumstances

As a Execute SQL Task
I have created a procedure using SQL Analyser as:

Transaction_failure_email @failedfile varchar(50)

This procedure e-mails a message using xp_sendmail and is executed from the SQL Task
