DTS Package not always running from Scheduler

Hi,

This may be a very easy one, but I a, not sure what is going wrong.

I have set up a scheduled job to execute one of my DTS packages. It is due to run every 2 hours from 7.05am to 13.05am. If the job fails it should retry up to 3 times with an interval of 5 minutes between retries.

However, I have found on numerous occasions the task does not even run e.g. the scheduler does not run it. Is there any reason for this? are there any known bugs with using the SQL scheduler? should i use the windows scheduler instead?

If the job is already running then the job will not start again. Check the job history, and see if the job was already running when it should have started.

There is no problem using the job scheduler in SQL. I would never use the windows scheduled tasks in place on the SQL Jobs.
