HI all,
How could I migrate DTS packages, as a group, from one server to another? Currently I am coping one package at a time.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

All DTS packages that are connected locally to SQL Server exist in table sysdtspackages in database msdb (including all versions of each package saved). You can perform an INSERT into the destination server using a select from the original server.

Make sure you use extra care when performing this since you are dealing with a system table and system database.

There is a nice free-to-download tool with UI called DTSBackup 2000 at an another brilliant site With it you can copy to/from local/file packages. I think saving as structural file loses packages visual layout, but the direct mode should not.

It's much easier (and safer) than to build your copys from scratch.

Check out the licensing statement is okay in your case. I remember it's free for non-commercial use.

Cheers
