OK this one probably has a simple answer but I can't figure it out. I have visual studio installed on my desktop for creating and modifying SSIS packages. However when I try to import a sql 2000 DTS package I get the following error:

Could not load file or assembly '........

Now if I remote into the actual sql server and try to load the same files using visual studio they work. But I still receive an error if I try to open the imported package on my local machine. I would like to be able to do this from my machine to save memory on my sql server from being taken up by visual studio. Thanks.

Sounds like there is a customer DTS component on the server that isn't installed on the workstation. What does the DTS package do?

It runs a stored procedure to fill a table and then push the results to a flat file.

Sounds pretty basic. Do you have the SQL 2000 tools installed on your workstation?

Quick question, what version of Visual Studio do you have on your desktop?

I downloaded the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components from their website and I seem to be up and running again. Thanks for the help.

no problem.
