Just considering my backup strategy for monitoring tools. I have several DTS packages that moitor all our systems and want to ensure they are backed up.

Is the whole package stored in the msdb? I.e. just a backup of the msdb would cover me if the server died? I've looked in syspackages and there's entries for all the packages, but is all the meta data etc. saved there as well.

Basically, is a backup of msdb sufficient?

Thanks,

M.

Yes a backup of MSDB is sufficient.

It is table sysdtspackages that contains all the package information needed, including any version history (whenever you hit the [save] button).
