DTS Import Error - Delimiter

When I tried to import a text file (approx. 500mb)
I get the following error:
"Could not find the selected row delimiter within the first 8kb of data."

What does it mean? and how would I get around it?

Have had this same issue many times before.

You probably have a "white-space" character issue if I were to place a bet!

Try importing the file into Microsoft Access first. It will parse out the bad records into a table you can look at later and keeps the clean records in another table.

Then you can import the Access table of GOOD records into SQL Server just like you are currently importing the file.
