I have a DTS package that runs every 5 minutes from 8am to 10pm. It's set to do this 6 days a week with no end date in site. When I check it the following day in Management->SQL Server Agent->Jobs, it shows that the scheduled job is still enabled, as it should be. However if I look to see when it will start again on the Jobs screen, Next Run Date says the date and time is unknown. It should read that it will start at 8:00am of the same morning.

When I look at the properties of the job, the Enabled box is checked under the General tab, as it should be. If this were unchecked it would show up as Disenabled on the Jobs screen. However, when I go to the Schedules tab and click on Edit, there is another Enabled check box, and it isn't checked. If I check this it runs like its supposed to, if I uncheck it acts as if its disenabled even though the Jobs screen shows its enabled. I have to go through this every day for it to work. I have other jobs that run once a day on a daily basis that stay enabled. Can someone please tell me what's going on?

I found a workaround in case anyone wants to know. I still don't know why it disenables it self but I suspect its a bug in SQL Server 2000. I found out from another source that the two Enable check boxes turn off/on different things. The one in the General tab turns off/on the job while the one inside the Schedule tab turns off/on the schedule which would then stop the job from running without turning it off. I already knew about sp_update_job for re-enabling the job, and now I've found sp_update_jobschedule for re-enabling the schedule.

If anyone needs to see these just check out BOL. I'm still curious to know why the schedule is shutting itself off.
