We are trying to import data from one database to another. The schemas are not the same. We need to use existed schema in the destination. We are unable to create the transformations between the source databases and the destination.

What exactly are the steps in the DTS wizard to use two unrelated sql tables to pass data between. I know there must be a trick!

If you use the DTS Import/Export Wizard, when you get to the Column Mappings and Transformations page, click on the Transformations tab. Select "Transform Information as it is copied to the Destination." Then you can modify the VB script to change the column mappings.

Another option is to use straight T-SQl to transfer the data. If you are not dealing with a very large number of records or if performance is not critical, using T-SQL to transfer data between databases can be simpler than DTS. You can even transfer data between databases on different servers if the one of the servers is linked to the other. Terry L. Broadbent
