Hi everybody,
I recently updated one of our server from 2.6 to 2.8.
To modify files I very often use to text editor (dtpad) instead of vi. Under 2.6 everything was fine: owner + group of the edited file remained the same. Now under 2.8 the owner + group are changed to the actual user. For example, a file named "test" belongs to owner "smith" and group "programers" . Wgen I'm logged in as root and edit the file "test", modify something and use "save" then thoe file belongs to owner "root" and group "other".
Is their some configuration file in which I can change this behaviour ?
Thx Andi

I'm not very clear but can anybody correct me if i am wrong.I have installed 2.6 and the swap space doesnt start from cylinder 0 and i want it that way,is it possible to do that.

I didnt find any options during install which will help me in this.

Check if you have patch "108714" installed (you can check with:
# /usr/sbin/patchadd -p | grep 108714

if the version you have is 108714-02 or 108714-03 or 108714-04 then the problem is caused by this patch, you have two solutions (remove the patch, with "backoutpatch"), or install revision 5 of 108714, (108714-05), you can download from "sunsolve.sun.com".
