DTMF TONES FROM DIGITAL SETS USING * or # 1

internaly you get DTMF, externaly if you hit the # after dialing the number your calling than you get DTMF.
I just tried this on my phone, I called another phone on my switch and when he answered and I hit any button the other end heard the DTMF. then I dialed out of the switch and when that person answered aI had to hit the # key before they heard the DTMF.
