Found an old thread on this, but need clarification before I commit-

Assuming I've got a PRI interface from a MICS to the customer's (soon to be) fax server, there shouldn't be any issues passing DTMF tones to that server, correct?

In other words, the calls will be coming in from the CO via a PRI via DID's; I would then route the call thru another DTI card supplying connectivity to the fax server (which has a PRI input), who will receive the digits and route the fax to the appropriate box.

Make sense? If anyone has done this in the past, tips will be appreciated! :)

I've played with a point to point on my test bench and I think it was Jerry Reeve who said the best way was to setup target lines at the receiving end to route the calls. I'm sure he'll chime in here shortly. [smile]

I sound a lot like the customer in the above question. I've got a MICS system and have been assigned the task of figuring out how to setup a fax server. The server software will route by DIDs, but I can't figure out what I need on the PBX side to get those DIDs to the server. Can anyone help?

I believe you set your the fax via an ATA and set the DID to that extension as your target line Ring Only, if you are on a CP you can then set up the fax extension as well.

assuming you have a PRI or T1 between the norstar and Fax server

program the recd # as a destination code and point it to the route with the trunk going to the fax server

thanks for the plug exmogger

I think that you will find your final programming to look very similar to the setup of a multi node dialing plan as described in the installers guide. treat your main MICS as the primary node on a network and the fax server as an outlying node. you will probably need to get the networking keycode to make this work but maybe not. take a close look at how the guide lays out for calls coming into a MICS and then be sent out over a T1 to the next MICS.

an additional note is that if you are using a pri out and pri in to the fax server you will not be seeing analog DTMF tones. the data will be on channel 24 (the d channel)
