DTMF tone while on a call

We are having an intermittent issue where agents are hearing a DTMF tone while on a call with customers. the only isolation we've been able to do so far is that this happens on calls routed between sites via IP tie trunks.

It would seem if it was a misconfiguration of those trunks this would happen on more calls than it does. The frequency is anywhere from 2-3 calls in a day to 20-30 depending on the day.

Any ideas out there on where best to look? Avaya is currently analyzing the MST traces.

thats interesting because I thought IP trunks were not capable of passing DTMF.

We are having the same type of problems hearing DTMF tones, but more prevelant during a conference call with digital phones and IP phones. Also happens when calling internal to internal.

You did not mention the type of system used nor the hardware. I would suggest you make sure it your CM is patched to the latest version as well as your CLANS and Medpros

Odd thing is we started having this problem as well at another site. They have digital 24xx phones and the tone is DTMF, lasting several seconds. These phones are not call center and don't get a service observe or service observe warning tone. We thought it was some wireless headsets, but i have a phone that does not have a headset and she is having the same problem.

It's hit and Miss.

I had the same thing, just a flash of DTMF during phone calls, randomly. Could never figure it out until I changed carriers and it went away. I never got it on internal-internal calls. Just internal-external.
