Calls come in and hit the Merlin Messaging auto attendant.
Someone dials an extension number, long pause, then they get the message that the extension is not assigned or something like that and they are transferred to the operator.
Doesn't happen on all calls.
Multiple clients are calling in and getting the same issue.
I had the client pay attention to what line these calls are coming in on and the port/extension number that comes up in the display when the call is transferred.
Seems as if the second line is a common occurance and also the first voicemail port as well.
Issue is, when I call in to test on that line or that particular port, I can never get the issue to surface.

Anyone have any ideas or more troubleshooting methods?

I would check your touchtone receivers..
one bad receiver can cause you trouble..
Or there a bad port on your VM...

possibilities:

a. the particular station being dialed does not have a mailbox programmed

b: the messaging equipment does not have correct extension length programmed

c: some other programming error coincident to hardware replacement

Test the TOUCH TONE Receivers.

Step 1) Determine how many you have.
Step 2) Dial *04, (you should hear a 2nd dial tone) then the Touch Tone Receiver Number (as in 01) then dial 123456789*0#.

Good, you get 2 or 3 beeps, Bad = Silence or something other than 2 or 3 beeps, or you can't break that 2nd dial tone.

-OR-

If everyone is calling with their CELL PHONE, they could have them set for SHORT Touch Tones. But, that's highly unlikely.

Thanks for the info. Will test touch tone receivers. Forgot all about them.

Maybe a bad port, but I'll try the touch tones first.

Voicemail programming is correct.

UGH!
I lift up the receiver, press *04 and get dweedle tone(wave off/fast busy).

Thanks. Forgot it had to be from an analog.
