We are having issues with inbound and outbound touch tones being recognized. When we enter pin codes for conference calls it is not accepting them. We call back on cell phones and it works. The conference system even reads back to us what we have entered and it sometimes duplicates our touch tones that we push. We are also have the same issue when people try to dial extensions in the auto attendant. It works about a third of the time. Two thirds of the time it sets for a while then hangs up on them. When you dial out they even sound distorted sometimes. Are the touch tones a WAV file? Could it be corrupt? The customer is wanting to do an upgrade to 10 to see if that will fix it but I don't see any Docs that say DTMF is a issue on 8.1

I'm guessing SIP lines and wrong DTMF settings... not much to go on so.

They had Pri lines when this started and it was mostly dialing out and the "5" touchtone. Then it was sporadic. I switched them to sip lines last week and it has really flared up now to also include people dialing in through AA.
The Sip lines are through Cox telecom. Their SIP aid had me set DTMF support on line to RFC2833
They have 1400 series. 1600 series and 40 old Nortel phones. the issue happens on all type phones. System is 8.1(75)

You would need to do some tracing to see what's happening, but SIP is one of the things that has actually improved on the later releases.

Honestly if the customer wants to pay to upgrade to 10 without you saying it will fix the issue I would let them. It could fix the issue and even if it does not it was not your idea to do it. Sadly Avaya fixes some issues without saying they fixed it so there could be a fix somewhere along the way that fixed your issue and you would not even see it in a tech bulletin.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Oh and there is no 8.1(75)... there is a 8.1(73) and 8.1(79) and a 8.1(85).

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
