DTE vs DCE

Hello, I am buying some cables to connect a 2610 with smart serial int and a 2501 with db60 serial int. My question is I understand the difference between dce and dte but when I go to buy the cable they ask if I want the smart serial end or the db60 end to be either dte or dce. Does it matter? If it does can anyone explain why. I appreciate all the help
Also does anyone know of good place to buy cables, I'm looking at kg2.com

It really doesn't matter, all it is is a choice between the 2610 setting the clock rate for the line, or the 2501. Both would work just fine, just personal preference. Hope this helps.
