DT700 phone can't send DTMF to other IP phone

I posted and solved a similar subject before, but one aspect of that was never solved. The system is SV8500, S8.
A user on a DT700 IP phone calls an analog extension, which happens to be an IP analog gateway, and is programmed as a 3rd party SIP phone.

The user at the DT700 phone needs to send some DTMF tones to this analog phone, but it can't. When the DT700 user presses any buttons on his phone, there remains complete silence at the far end.

The DT700 user can call out of the system, via IP PAD card and PRI card, and it can send DTMF tones just fine. The other side, the analog line can also call out of the system, and can generate DTMF just fine. It's only when the DT700 phone is calling this type of analog line (on the analog IP gateway), the DT700 can't send any DTMF.

I also observed that there is now audible DTMF between 2 DT700 phones either (not that I ever need that...).

The IP analog gateway is Grandtream HT704, which is a small box, talks to the SV8500 via IP, and it has 4 ports with analog lines so you can plug in any old analog phones.
This Grandstream offers 3 types of DTMF Methods: "RFC2833", "SIP INFO", and "In-Audio". I tried all 3 of those, and didn't resolve. I was wondering if there is any command that influences this on the 8500 end.

I'd take a wild guess and suggest a bit in ASYD/ASYDL needs to be set.

I think you may find that having established the call, the system thinks it is finished with DTMF and you need to program a key on the DT700 to enable further sending of DTMF. This always used to be the case for things like telephone banking.

I also opened a ticket with my vendor and they asked in an email if I have the IP-DTG programmed in ALIDL. I do and that's what I replied to him. I do have an ASYD manual, and went through it but didn't find any DTMF related entries.

So the search is on...

What happens if you place the call on then off of hold? Does the DTMF sender become active?

Have you tried this; in the phone set up, User can disable or enable DTMF Tone on DT830 terminal. Go to main menu, 4 setting, 1 user setting, 2 talk, 2 DTMF tone, 2 = tone is enabled. Default is 0 = per system settings.
LCD displays the [DTMF Tone] menu. Select either Automatic, Disable or Enable using digit keys.
“0. Automatic” will be flashing before any selection is made, since “0” is assigned by default.
Press the software key for “OK” when done.
0. Automatic, - Follows the settings assigned to system.
- Settings assigned to system has priority.
- DTMF Tone is Enabled only when settings assigned by system do not exist.
1. Disable, Does not follow the setting assigned by system.
- Settings assigned to terminal has priority.
- DTMF Tone is Disabled.
2. Enable, Does not follow the settings assigned by system.
- Settings assigned to terminal has priority.
- DTMF Tone is Enabled.

Yes, I've tried that setting on the phone, and enabled DTMF. Didn't make any difference. Still complete silence.

But your post brings up a question. This setting on the phone has to do with follow or ignore system-settings. What are those system settings??? Where do you set them?

When I place a call on hold and get it back, there is still no DTMF.

But now I just found that the SP350 soft-phone does send DTMF. I thought the SP350 and the DT700 phones were identical - for all intents and purposes - except for their appearance. But no. The SP350 does send DTMF.

I am still looking for those "system" settings. You may need to open a ticket with NTAC.

Check out the switch settings on your IPPAD card. SW-11, pos 1 = off-DTMF 60ms, on-DTMF 120ms, pos 7 on DTMF sending method:inband NOTE1; DTMF relay of the inband signaling is effective only for the speech transferring of CODEC
G.711. Make sure the CODEC type is adjusted for this function. Pos 7 off = DTMF sending method:eek:utband (defult setting)

In addition, SW16, pos 2 off (def) DTMF relay (UII/Proprietary Method) Note 4, Note 4: The switch 2 of SW16 is available when the switch 7 of SW11 is set to OFF. On = DTMF relay (RFC2833) Note 4.

When I check FLNK (detailed connection status display) while on the phone from a DT700 phone to a 3rd party SIP phone (analog phone via an IP gateway), there is no IP PAD involved. The connection is straight IP_phone-to-IP_gateway, and the IP Gateway does the conversion to analog. Thus, I didn't go into testing different switch settings on the IP PAD card.

Still trying to figure this out and the vendor is slow. Still no further advice from them. I've been through the manuals back and forth and didn't see anything that would solve it.
