Does anyone know if there is a tutotial available for 8.1? It wasn't included in the installation options.

I'm still trying to get hold of the Design Studio from the Passport Advantage site %-(

Everything else seems to be their apart from the SNMP Agent - do you know if there is an SNMP agent for 8.1?

there is a design studio tutorial pdf but it's the old Ascential 8.0 document. Is that what you mean?

Cheers,
Olly.

No it's the tutorial files that go with the PDF.
It's not a very good release. I'm in dispuiute with IBM over what I'm licensed for, they've taken away my access to any files (good job I got them quickly) and most things associated with mapconv don't seem to work properly.

Sorry in advance folks! I can honestly say I'm surprised at how strongly I feel about this. It's just that everything with IBM is difficult to the extreme. I finally have half of what I need and I'm so dispointed about even the little things that don't normally matter I just want to keep the last version and cancel our contracts.....

ANYWAY,I just went thru this. IU can't get what I need from them without jumping thru all sorts of unreasonable hoops. They listed someone here are primary contact that had nothing to do with the tool and they will not take instruction from their own sales reps to fix their error. (I'm sorry, its in our system so it must be right. You'll have to work thing out on your end.)

Now that this guy is primary its going to be a royal pain to get anything. He doesn't know what the tool is used for, has no idea what the functionality is, doesn't know how the contracts should read, blah, blah blah... And, he won't grant me authorization. I can't even see the service contact and the last service contract I did see was messed up really bad. I can't tell IBM has fixed the problem I mentioned at the last client meeting nor if we have all the product licenses we paid for. Their web site is awful,....

rant....rant.....rant.....

I know you can't tell but I'm really angry right now.... Been wading thru this trying to get what I need for months.

rant....rant.....rant.....

I now have a partial down load of the 8.1 components and IBM has really made a mess out of the tool interface. It used to be easy to see what icons to click but now they all look the same ugly painful to look at colors. Is that lavender or purple as a default? It really hurts the eyes.(some of the changes to the interface aren't as bad but they shouldn't be default settings.)

rant....rant.....rant.....

The moron in management that allowed these changes should be fired (only half kidding). What we want to do is redesign an interface so its easily usable by people that aren't working with the tool today.

rant....rant.....rant.....

So far I'm unimpressed with the PDF changes and once I get the tool (that I was able to get downloaded) configured I might feel better but.......

eyetry,
I agree. I stil can't get the event Server from the download site even though the account manager has confirmed we are licensed for it. I had to get it from support.
New manuals are awful. No icons etc. New icons are awful. Why were they changed? We'll have to retrain everyone.
Most of the new features dont'work. I haven't got round to testing most of the original functionality.
And they've taken away the tutorial so we have to sent people on courses.

Check out their forum..... sounds like others are having similar issues.

I spoke with some IBM reps and will try to attend an upcomming user meeting. Seems like they think the new icons meet a more universal standard and are therefore better. Bu its IBM so chances are we'll have to live with what we have...

There are still Design Studio Intro, Design Studio Tutorial and DSTX Intro pdfs. #s 1001, 1002 and 1027.
