DSTrace Repeating message - syncing delays

I have a 4 NW 51 server setup, with 3 replicas (1 M, 2 RW).

I have been experiencing problems with delayed NDS syncing, and have come
across this symptom:

- When I turn DS Trace on at the server that has the master replica, I get
this message repeating about once a second:

Sync - [0000841b] [2002/03/28 16:19:45 ,2 ,1]

where: usrcat is our NDS catalog for contextless login, and wic and WIC
are the O and Tree.

I am thinking that I have some rogue/corrupt entry that is trying to
update, and is causing some traffic/update problems.

All timesync related items are OK (all servers are in sync).

Any insight, pointers, welcome.
