DST issues recurring

In March I took all steps for DST updates. I updated the servers, clients, Exchange servers, applied CDO patches and rebased mailboxes. In March, out of over 5000 mailboxes, I had about 10 users with issues. Not too shabby.

Yesterday, a user noticed that his recurring appointments for next week have some that are an hour off. Mine are fine, even for the same appointment. We're on the same mailbox server.

Most users have issues, and it is affecting meeting occurrences from last March as well. I haven't applied any DST patches after last March. Anyone experience similar odd behavior?

Another concern: MS says that I need to install patch 933360. According to the engineer I spoke to, I then have to update all 3000+ clients, and rebase all calendar and public folder items again. Repeat this every time they reissue a DST patch. I'm seeking further clarification on this from our Technical Account Manager, but has anyone heard of the need to rebase all calendars after the initial one last March?

Hi Dan,

Did u get this worked out, we are having the same issue here.
Some recurring appointments are fine for some people and not for others.

Not yet. I did get an update that you only need to rebase calendars if they do a major update to the DST rules again, though.

Are you seeing the issues where the March appointments are also wrong, even though they were fine back in March?

I will post any fixes I get.

Dan,

i am seeing the same things as you.
For some users it is fine for others it id not.
Makes no difference what client pc they are on neither.
My concern is what happens this weekend when the times really change?

LLudlow, what OS are your exchange servers on? Mine are Win2003 SP1. How current are your patches?

lludlow,

So far the answer is this:

If it's only some meetings, make sure all clients are patched. Then run Outlook update on mailboxes that had appointments created from that client when unpatched, if any.

An alternate is to cancel any appointments with issues, then have the user recreate them from machines you know are patched and require recipients to accept the new appointments.

An issue they are saying may complicate things is creating recurring appointments with no end date. THe reason is because the rebasing tool doesn't cleanly handle the end date for an appointment with no end date...

Either way, you do NOT have to rebase all calendars on the Exchange servers. You only have to fix appointments created after successful rebasing if your users used an unpatched machine to create or update an appointment. That can include home machines.

If you want, you can email me at dan(AT)danrothbartDOTcom for more info. Obviously the email above needs some slight correction.
