I am new to Unix. My CDR company never contacted me about this update and because the box sit in the corner and i never had to worry about it i forgot to change it. I contact them today and they want me to commit to an upgrade to 5.0.7 before they can put in this work around. I see the instruction and I navigated to the /etc/tz but i get a menu that i step throught. when/how do I send the following command?

TZ=ST5DT,M3.2.0,m11.1.0

and how do I check to see if it took.

you don't.
follow the questions...
say that you are not in north america and it will give you all the detailed questions.

it will (re)create the shell script /etc/TIMEZONE that will have that string in it.
