Hi,

Just wanted to confirm the steps which I need to be followed.

For AIX 5.1, I have installed the desired patch.
===============================================
Here is the confirmation

$ instfix -iak IY75214
IY75214 Abstract: Daylight Saving Time default changing in 2007

IY75214 Symptom Text:
DayLight savings change for year 2007 and beyond

----------------------------
All filesets for IY75214 were found.

I haven't rebooted my server, I was just checking /etc/environemt file, where TZ value is still showing :-

TZ=EST5EDT

Q.-1
=====
Will this value change after reboot ?

Q:-2
=====
I have couple of AIX 4.3.3. server and has same TZ value in /etc/environment.

As per p5wizard, I believe we can just modify that line to
TZ=EST5EDT,M3.2.0,M11.1.0
and reboot

Correct me if I am wrong ..

Thanks again ..

Sam

I didn't reinvent the wheel...

check here and read for yourself:
With the fix, your TZ will remain as is, the rules that EST5EDT refer to (in the AIX libraries) are changed to account for the new changeover dates as set by the DOE. Not sure if a reboot is necessary or not. Smit install session should have told you yes or no.

Without the fix, or for 433 legacy servers, you need to change the TZ variable and reboot. Reboot is in order to provide the updated TZ value to all system processes.

Someone care to comment?

HTH,

p5wizard

you must reboot for /etc/enviroment file it is a read at boot file

Thanks p5wizard and plamb for your confirmation ..
I have done desired APAR loading for AIX servers and modified the /etc/environment file for AIX 4.3.3 servers and rebooted.

Shold be fine ..

Thanks ..Again ..
