Hi,

I am pretty mush new to Oracle. Presently we have our application Ware-house managmanet system which is running on Database Oracle 9.2.0.4.0. Its also running on AIX5.1

Due to upcoming DST issue, we are applying APAR on AIX 5.1. But wanted to confirm whether any thing is required on Oracle. In Oracle Meta-Link site, we discovered it need some pathes to avoid DST affect.

Just from other side I am asking this question. Since Oracle is an application which is running on OS, if I do necessary changes at OS level to avoid DST issue, then why we need another patch to apply in Oracle?

Thanks..

Sam

Sam,

The decision of the U.S. government to extend Daylight-Savings Time (DST) on both ends of calendar can affect your applications if you use the TIMESTAMP data type. I presume that you have read the Oracle documents relating to this issue.

If you use only the DATE data type, then your operating system's management of DST should take care of any Oracle-related issues.
