DSS w/ E1 Adapter

Our network has network access server, CISCO 5300 and 3COM Total Control for serving hundres dial-up users. Each device has many E1 links connected. I wanna know how to use Sniffer to troubleshoot this kind of environment. Does anyone tell me how to connect DSS fit into the network ? Is it similar to DSS w/ WAN V.35 or Portable Sniferbook w/ E1 module ? It will be appreciated if give me a figure to illustrate physical configuration including cable type and connector. Thank you in advance.
