Does anyone know how to turn off the flashing lamp feature on a dss\blf key associated with a hot desk user in the logged out state, this feature was introduced in 8 UR3 but I have a site where many hate it, and yep, the're all PA's.

I can't see anything myself in the COS or system options forms. I've looked at the release notes for 8 UR4 and 8 UR5 and don't see a command introduced to enter in the shell or maint command box to turn it off either, like the one bought in to turn visual vmail off.

Just guessing here but have you tried the system option for "BLF lamp shows atatus of set enabled"?

I usually have the option above set to yes to allow BLF to lamp regardless of the key in use. It sounds like it could be related.

Hi Kwb, it's worth a go. Help files seem to indicate that the only blf system options control lamp status for busy and cf always conditions but you never know what else may be affected by the on\off toggle. I was working from home yesterday but today I will set my 5340 phone up as a user on the 3300 in question and try this out, if I can't turn this feature off I'll have to raise a ticket with Mitel because this issue (although seemingly unimportant) will cause me a big headache when 8 ur 5 is rolled out to the rest of the cluster. Just about everyone on this 4,000 extn cluster is a hotdesker and there are loads of pesky PA's.

I've reviewed my release notes and course docs for 8.0 UR3 and I also cannot see anything that needs to be programmed to activate this "Feature"

There is another option worth checking out. The "BLF - CFA indication based on set enabled". This option was also introduced with 8.0UR3 and causes phones with Call forwarding enabled to flash when enabled.

Nope, none of those things apply. I've raised a ticket with Mitel, maybe there is a shell command to turn this feature off. I'll post the answer hopefully today. I suspect I'm stuck with this feature for now.

The Docs kindof read that way.

Please do let us know, I'm sure this will come up for the rest of us.

From the Mitel System Administration Tool Help:

Program BLF Indicator to Monitor an Agent's Status

You can program a Busy Lamp Field (BLF) indicator on an IP Phone, PKM, or 5550 IP Console to monitor a Hot Desk user's status.
Program the BLF key on the monitoring device against the Hot Desk user's directory number.
When the Hot Desk user is logged out, the BLF indicator lamp on a IP Phone or PKM blinks at a rate of 438 mS OFF; 62 mS ON.
On a 5550 IP Console, logout status is indicated by the appearance of the icon in the BLF panel.

Bigsin, The question is how to turn it off.

Yes I know, but this is how it works according the manual.
There are no desctriptions/conditions how to turn it on, so I assume t it not possible to turn it off.

Hi,

Mitel 2nd line confirm this feature cannot be switched off, below is text from an email I sent to our Mitel CSM as a last ditch attempt.

Matthew,

Upgrading Basildon to 8 UR5 has introduced the following feature (feature born with with release 8 ur3).

A dss\blf or secretarial key that is set to monitor a hot desk directory number will flash if the monitored
number is logged out.

This is a only a potential problem because the feature cannot be turned off, this has been confimed by
Mitel 2nd line support. Can you ascertain whether design have a guarded maintenance or shell command
that will turn this off.

I think a feature that causes what some would regard as a distracting light to be present on their phone
should be optional, if not on an individual basis then at least on a 3300 wide basis. This issue could
adversly impact the planned software roll-out.

If for example a PA has 4 or 5 of these key types then the problem is obviously exacerbated.

we also have this problem and raised a DCR, its driving us and our customers made.
would be nice to have a COS option to enable / disable, get those DCRs raised!!!!!

Latest feedback from Mitel on this is that they aim to enable the feature to be turned off in release 10 which apparently is out in July, they say.

I have a SX 200 with a Superconsole 1000 showing "waiting for synchronization" on the display. The console want idle up. I have tried reseating the DNIC, and cold started the switch, and building a new console on a different port, still unable to idle the console. Can anyone give me an idea on what's the next step in troubleshooting other than replacing the console. Greatly appreicated.

I don't know hardly anything about sx200's but have you tried the console straight off the wiring frame as you may have a cabling fault. Post your question on the main page so that more people will see it hillrd.
