DSS addition

I have tried to add a DSS to a system and con't seem to get it to work. I plug the blue tip special cable into the MLX-20L DSS jack and into the IN jack on the DSS. Nothing happens. Then the buttons on the 20L start doing weird things. I ordered a different DSS. Same thing! These are secondary market parts, mind you. Is there any programming or special things I need to do to get the system to recognize it? I find no reference to special procedures in the books, other than identifying what range the buttons perform.

the dss pwrs.from the fourth pair , make sure you have the 4th pair wired from the port to the jack

forgot to mention,a dss will only operate from a opertor position

Also,
System Renumber for your DSS pages must be changed to match your dial plan or it will never work!

For example'm if your extensions start at 100, you must change the DSS "page 1" to 100. It defaults to 10.
