cf 5 (i think) only mx doesn't have the ability.

it's only available in CF 5. just looked it up. if your hosting company is still running 4 they're now 3 versions behind. if they dont have any intentions of upgrading its time to find a new hosting service. However you'll still have to set up a dsn. Some hosts have a control panel that you can add it yourself or you'll have to have the hosting company do it over email or phone.
