I need help setting up a dsn for sybase sql 5.0 through visual basic code. i know how to set up dsn for access so i was hoping it is similar to that. i have searched for the code on the web but can't seem to find anything useful and I have also looked for help in the VB forum but was directed here!! can anyone help me with this.

Difficult to help you with Sybase SQL 5.0--did you mean perhaps SQL Anywhere (or Adaptive Server Anywhere or whatever they call it now)? You might try a forum on the Sybase site (sorry tek-tips!). Since this is mostly a forum with folks using a different product, you might have better luck with another forum.

I've used SQL Anywhere some, but I've never needed an ODBC connection so I can't help you. Try this link:

I'm surprised you don't find something in the documentation about setting up an ODBC connection. Here's a link to on-line docs that may be more recent than what you have:
