I am configuring a new BCM 400. We have 2 DSM32+ and a GATM8.

For my Digital lines, is it better to set up the DSM32+ on Double or single density?

We are using 48 Digital lines, 13 VoIP phones (soon to be about 40) and 7 Analog phone lines.

Given that all new lines moving forward are going to be VoIP, and that we will be using fewer and fewer digital lines as the old buildings get buldosed, I was going to set it up with a 3/5 split with the 2 DSM32+ modules set on double density. The GATM to Bus 6. I am under the impression that this is the best setup because it allows us to grow. It leaves buses open for maybe a fiber or T1 trunk module in the future, and allows for more VoIP lines.

Is my understanding correct, or is it better to use 1/2 of more busses? Should I consider a performance increase of any kind?

I am new at this, and would appreciate any input you could give.

Go with D/D because it will minimize your bus resources. Based on what you indicated i would do the following:
DSM32+ on bus 2 and 3
GATM on bus 5
3/5 split.

Leaves bus 6 open for a DTM in the future and you still have bus 4 for anything in the interim.

Thanks for your reply...

I will stick with the D/D plan and put the GATM on 5...leaving bus 4 for another Station Module, and bus 6 for another trunk module in the future...

Should I set the Offset for the GATM8 to 3 so I use the "top" of the bus, or should I stick with an offset of 0?

GATM 8 won't work on offset 3, it would have to be on 2 as a GATM 8 uses 2 offsets.

Stick with offset 0 and you'll be fine.

You can always change Bus 06 to full double density as well.
If its a BCM 4.0, you don't even have to worry about it.
