DSLAM/CPE deployment(Zyxel)

I am currrently deploying ADSL solution with Zyxel IES 2000 and 660HW cpe.
i can ping to the cpe from the Dslam and vice versa but i can not ping to the remote gateway connected to the DSLAM from the CPE.
Does anyone know of any special config that must be done on the CPE could be missing?
I have VPI/VCI 0/33 on the DSLAM and and on the CPE.
Encapsulation is EN ENCAP
IPs- DSLAM 172.16.12.50/26
CPE 172.16.12.56/26
Internet router 172.16.12.1/26
