Router: WRT54GS - V.4
ISP: Bellsouth

I have an issue connecting my router to my ISP, though it just may be a setting issue. I am familiar with this router & have had no issues with it while my ISP was Comcast. I just moved to a new neighborhood & my available ISP is Bellsouth.. This DSL service is slightly different than previous service I have had through Bellsouth, this connection does not require a DSL modem. I connect via CAT-5 jack already “linked to fiber” (per Bellsouth tech). I currently have Internet connectivity via my network card directly to CAT-5 jack… But I cannot get the router to resolve with the ISP (Cannot request IP/PPoE address from ISP). I have tried all things suggested from the FAQ’s including:

· Yes the settings are on PPoE & the User name & password are correct.
· Yes both cables work
· Went though power down cycle multiple times..

Interesting thing is the routers orange button & wan button are lit…

Due to the fact that I have no modem, is there a specific setting that I need to alter either on the router or my PC?

Do not use the PPoE choice on the router and choose DHCP instead.

You might want to set the LAN-side ip of the router to 10.0.0.1. Subnet 255.255.255.0
