DSL with Cable backup

I have both a DSL and Cable internet access. I would like to use the DSL as the primary and the Cable as backup. Do I just need to purchase a router w/3 WAN ethernet ports and assign metrics to the DSL and Cable ports on the router?

Also, I have a checkpoint firewall sitting between the router and LAN that preforms NAT. Do I need to purchase a valid subnet from an ISP for the subnet between the router and firewall? Do I then need to setup routing between my router and the ISP?

Thanks for any help!
