We have a DSL modem in building #3.
Building #1 is the DMARC location where the Telco drops the DSL signal, and we route it on from there. We cannot have the Telco drop it any closer.

Building #2 is 4400 feet from Building #1. The d/l speed on the DSL modem at the DMARC is 1.3mbps. The d/l speed at building #2 is also 1.3mbps.

At building #3, which is 1200 feet from Building #2, the d/l speed drops to 0.2mbps.

Is there any sort of amplifier that we can purchase to put in the wiring path between Building 2 and 3? That is the link where the signal just seems to die.

The Telco told us our total path was less than 14,000 feet (approximately) and that the rate of 1.3mbps should be good for up to 15,000 feet. I'd say they're wrong or we can't measure lengths.

Thank you!

Those cable lengths are probably an estimate. Telco has been known to have errors in their databases, especially when OSP makes changes to the cable and does not put in the correct data. Aside from that, there are NO DSL repeaters available. Depending on pair availability, you might try doubling up on pairs to give the circuit more copper and less loss. But you want to do some pair testing and verify the resistance so you have matched pairs. Another thing you need to do is verify that ALL terminations are clean and solid, so they do not contribute to any degradation of the DSL signal. Next, do you have any fiber between the buildings? Using fiber could be an alternative path without the loss issues. You would need a pair of media converters on both ends of the fiber, and your DSL NIU would be on one end. You would connect the Ethernet port of the DSL NIU to the media converter. On the other end that media converter would provide the Ethernet hand off for you LAN.

Hope that helps!
