I have connected a line with ADSL to Partner ACS, however with the line filter my bandwidth when from 1.1M to about 368K. That is with the modem connected in front of the switch. Without the filter I am getting a little line noise.
Any suggestions from this ever helpful group?

Hi 568Bguy,
Is the DSL line running down the same cable as a station cable to the modem? I have found that a DSL signal needs to be on it's own cable or the speed drops.

Itpphoneguy,

I only have 1 line coming in and have all my extentions daisy chained down a 66 block. It just seems odd that with the filter I'm losing 75% of my bandwidth. Could it be a grounding issue? I understand that with some switches you need to create a ground loop of some sort for dial tone.
Thanks,
Jerry

Hi Jerry,
Sounds like you are referring to ground start lines. I have only seen DSL delivered on loop start lines. I think that the ground start procedure would mess up the DSL signal. Do not apply a static ground to the line.

With a DSL connection, you run the line directly into the modem, although some new ones need there own special filter before the modem. The low pass filter goes in between the incoming phone line and the ACS CO port and anything else on that line.
If you separate the DSL signal from the speech path at the demarc, either the modem goes right at the demarc, or you run the signal to the modem on it's own cable. Do not share any other pairs with anything else. I use CAT-5 for that type of run. I like to install the low pass filters right at the demarc so I don't load down the signal. The line is bridged between the modem and the low pass filter to the ACS.
Do you have more than one type of filter there? You must use the lowpass to the ACS or you will kill the DSL signal or greatly reduce the bandwith.

You really need to make sure that you take the DSL signal before the filter. Then run the line to your voice.
